About This Blog
Korea As It Is is a blog about real Korean culture, everyday life, food, travel, and social habits, written by a Korean living in Korea.
Hi, I'm yangyangee. I'm from Busan, and I live an ordinary daily life in Korea.
I started this blog because many parts of Korean culture are so normal to Koreans that we rarely stop to explain them. Things like short wedding ceremonies, food sharing, age-based language, restaurant habits, family expectations, and small everyday rules can feel confusing if you did not grow up here.
This blog is not written from a textbook point of view. I simply write about the Korea I know from daily life — the things I have seen, experienced, questioned, or taken for granted until I realized they might look very different to someone from another country.
Topics I Usually Write About
- Korean food culture and restaurant habits
- Wedding customs, family expectations, and social manners
- Everyday Korean habits that locals rarely explain
- Travel and daily life in Korea from a local point of view
- Small cultural rules that can feel confusing to visitors
My Point of View
I'm not a cultural expert writing from textbooks. I'm a Korean living a Korean life, sharing what I have always taken for granted — until I realized someone else might ask, “Why do Koreans do that?”
My goal is simple: to show Korea as it is, not as something overly polished, dramatic, or exotic.
I hope this blog helps you understand Korea a little more naturally.
